The Challenge

To create an Intuitive Academic Research Experience Platform aligned to the needs and expectations of today's digital natives.

To turn a generation of casual googling searchers into efficient, capable researchers.

To provide a personalized experience with intuitive discovery and a collaborative environment for students.

The Solution

I was part of the core team (product owners, sales directors, UX designers, SMEs) that was assembled and flown to Washington, D.C., from around the world.

We worked on the inception of the idea to validate strategy and assumptions by using Design Sprint for this brand new research platform for Students, Librarians, and Faculty.

During the Design Sprint, I've worked on the low fidelity prototype that was tested with students.

I've further collaborated on the Product Strategy and provided an Intuitive User Experience Design.

Design Thinking approach of Discovery, Define, Design, and Development lead to an understanding of the relationships between the business needs and the user wants. The key to success was to quickly and effectively validate a solution before any high fidelity design and development would take place.

The Results

  • The business was able to design for the needs of today's students with the features and functionality desired requested and required by students.

  • The product has been developed with a user-centered design approach.

  • Through continuous engagement with the end-users, the business gained valuable insights and was able to iterate accordingly.

  • The platform delivers simple, intuitive research experience today’s students want—on the device they prefer.

  • The business provided students with academic research solutions that address their preferences and provides access to vetted, comprehensive content.
